Mahesh Babu is reportedly charging a significant amount for his role in the upcoming film Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli. According to recent reports, he has signed a unique three-year deal worth ₹150 crore (approximately $18 million) for this project.
Instead of receiving a one-time payment, Mahesh Babu’s compensation is structured as ₹50 crore per year, reflecting his exclusive commitment to the film during its production period. This arrangement marks a record-breaking salary for the actor, who previously earned ₹70 crore for his films.
Varanasi is highly anticipated and features a blend of myth and time travel, with Mahesh Babu portraying the character Rudhra. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, adding to its star-studded lineup.
The film’s production is expected to generate considerable buzz in the Indian cinema landscape, given the scale and concept of the project.
